The video titled “Our Mission, Your Right” showcases the EU-funded CYMEDSEC project, which is dedicated to empowering security in Europe’s digital healthcare systems. Instead of staying in a hospital, each of us could receive continuous medical monitoring at home, surrounded by the love and care of our family. This is one of the goals of the digital revolution which is reshaping the European healthcare sector. However, this transformation brings significant challenges in terms of cybersecurity and privacy, especially since internet-connected medical devices—commonly known as the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)—are vulnerable to cyberattacks.
CYMEDSEC proposes several solutions to these challenges. Firstly, a Cybersecurity-by-Design approach, that means integrating robust security measures from the outset in the development of medical devices. Then a Benefit-Risk Toolbox, offering tools to assess and ensure the safety and security of IoMT devices. A comprehensive analysis framework will also evaluates social, economic, and privacy components to protect citizens thoroughly.
Having secure access to digital health, where patient data is protected from cyber threats, is a fundamental right for every citizen. This right is also at the core of CYMEDSEC’s mission.
